Our Brand New Earthroamer
Yea! Finally, we are back on the road again. We wanted to do some traveling this summer but...the extreme heat and drought made us think twice about that. We started out this time January 14. We headed for our house in Park City, Utah. We always go there for the Sundance Film Festival. Not necessarily to see the films, but to party with our friends and be there for the excitement it brings to the town of Park City. I DID get to see Robert Redford on the first day though! We are old friends. ha. I literally ran into him a couple years back and chatted a bit. I reminded him of that meeting this time around. I even managed to go to a premiere of one of the movies showing there.
Mike and I hosted a houseful of friends for the football games of the weekend. Of course, a good time was had by all. Our son Brandon is in Park City this winter teaching skiing so we got to spend lots of time with him. He's having the time of his life in PC. It's a dream.

| After we left Park City, the plan was to get to our house in Miami in time for the SUPERBOWL!! Go Giants! We headed to Bryce Canyon in Southern Utah to start. This was my favorite place. The weather was beautiful. Snow on the ground but bright blue skies that made looking around the canyon ....spectacular. The contrast from the white of the snow and the orange of the peaks was stunning. |

Our drive through Utah, Arizona and New Mexico was absolutely the prettiest drive I've ever seen in my life. We took secondary roads that wound through the mountains, forests and desert. A welcomed change from the interstates we have to use going East and West. We made our way down to the Grand Canyon. After we walked some of the rim of the canyon taking pictures, we made our way to the camp site. We were out in the forest with just a couple other campers. So quiet and peaceful. That is...until Mike was woken up in the morning by the wolves or coyotes howling for their breakfasts. The weather was beautiful so we set up camp then made a fire in the pit and sat outside cooking our dinner and just enjoying the our surroundings. The dogs loved being able to just wander around without having to be on a leash. As long as the snow wasn't too deep. They aren't mushers after all!!

We left the Grand Canyon and headed to Sante Fe. I had looked up on the Diners Drive ins and Dives website...places we should eat in Sante Fe. As we drove into the neighborhood to go to the place I had picked out for our dinner...we questioned whether or not we had made a wise choice. We were hoping to still have the tires on the truck when we came out BUT....oh my....perfect choice! It was called the Tune Up Cafe and was everything the show had said. Grow a lot of their own food...Prepare everything right there and nice as could be. I'm so happy we stuck with it. I'm pretty sure we could eat Southwestern food every meal. Our breakfast was just as good. I hated to leave. After we passed through New Mexico....it was, unfortunately, back to the interstates and the ugliness that goes with it. From then on....it was peddle to the metal just to make it to our house in Miami for the winter. We did manage a quick overnight at Ft. Wilderness in Disney but we just camped then got up and left early. We were ready to be home. Our trip was delayed a couple hours by that horrific crash in Florida that took 9 lives and injured scores of others. As we were sitting there in all that traffic going nowhere....Mike put it all in perspective. He said...we are inconvenienced and tired sitting here after a long day in this traffic....but we are the lucky ones that came along afterwards. Those poor people never made it to their vacation. That about says it all. We are so blessed to live the life we do. Traveling around and chasing the good weather. I don't ever want to take that for granted. NEVER.

God Bless America....it is a beautiful country.
